I am a senior, and received a phone call from somebody who knows my name and address (actually he knows my first name and a first letter of my last name). He told me that I was selected based on the survey to receive a grant in the amount of $ 9,000. He gave me the phone of Patrick Williams (senior account manager) (253-656-4568). I called this guy and he told me that I am one of 1,500 people who are seniors, or did not have bankruptcy, paid taxes on time and so on. He told me that in order to receive these government money, I need to buy a voucher for $210 in the pharmacy for processing the wire in the Western Union, then to go to Western Union store, take a yellow form in this store, call him and he will give me a tracking number, and then in 15-20 minutes I can receive $ 9,210 in this store. I did not give him any information about my bank account and he did not ask about it. How can I check that it is not a scam?

Look no further, I can tell you with 100% certainty that THIS IS A SCAM. Do NOT follow his instructions, you will just lose your $210 and never see a penny in return. Thank you for posting your question so others can learn, I have heard of this scam a lot. Please take a look at this article about free money phone call scams and how to avoid them. The article will also tell you how to report them. Though these folks are very clever about using different phone numbers it would still be a good idea to report the phone number they told you to call. In the future, remember that the government will NEVER telephone you to tell you you have won a grant, and you should NEVER have to pay anything to receive a grant!
