Is there a grant for solar energy for your home?

I have heard there is a Solar Panels Grant or the Government is giving away solar panels. Is there a grant that would help me get a Solar Company install Solar Panels and all the equipment that goes with it so we can tell the Electric Companies they can stop draining our bank account.  Our bills are  from  $150 to $350 and not going to get any lower. We are going broke.

It is bad enough that our plumbing is bad.  We can't afford to fix them.  We are retired and on a fixed income.

I don't believe there are any longer any grants being provided to get people to go solar. The only incentive provided is a tax break when you file your taxes ... in some cases you get to deduct some or all of what you spend on getting the solar panels installed. You can also find places that will install the panels at no cost but they will charge you a monthly fee (lower than your electric bill). And they take all the tax breaks.
