Can I get a government grant for open heart surgery?

This is a tough one, Alexis, sorry about your situation. I don't know of any grants available for major surgery. Some options I would recommend include: 

• Have your hospital connect you with a social worker who may know of local or national charities that might help;
• Check with the National Hearat Association to see what assistance or advice they may be able to offer;
• If you have not gotten a health insurance plan under Obamacare so so right away. They supposedly cannot turn you down for a pre-existing condition.
• Check out a crowdfunding type of platform that is specifically designed for people with medical needs. You can learn more about it here.
